Blue Swan Home Care is the first service in Sabah to bring specialist care into the home, based in Kota Kinabalu. It was founded by John Cham together with co-founder Dr Gordon Pang. Together they built a team that brings coordinated medical and nursing care into the home.

Blue Swan began with John Cham. A geriatric and orthopaedic physiotherapist with over 15 years of experience, he founded and ran Life Ready Mobile, a mobile allied health service across Perth and Melbourne, before returning home to Sabah in 2023.
His return was personal. In Perth, he watched his own mother slowly burn out caring for his grandmother, who was living with dementia and bedbound after a stroke. He came home to Kota Kinabalu to build the kind of service he could trust with his own parents.
As an HRD Corp accredited trainer, and through Blue Swan Academy, John is also growing Sabah’s own caregiving workforce, so quality home care can be built here rather than brought in. His mission is simple: to make growing old with proper support at home normal for Malaysian families, not a luxury for the few.
Dr Gordon Pang is the co-founder and Chief Clinical Officer of Blue Swan Home Care, a Consultant Geriatrician, and the State Geriatrician for Sabah. For over a decade he has dedicated his career to the care of older adults, across public and private hospitals and, more recently, in patients’ own homes, with a particular focus on frailty, dementia, falls prevention and rehabilitation.
In 2023 he co-founded Blue Swan Home Care on a simple belief: that many older adults can receive excellent medical care without always needing to stay in hospital. He designed the clinical framework behind every care plan and reviews the complex cases that come to him, while day-to-day care is delivered by our nurses, visiting doctors, physiotherapists and care coordinators.
For him, good geriatric care is never about one disease. It is about the whole person: mobility, memory, medications, nutrition and family support, so an older adult can live as well and as independently as possible. That framework is what lets the team take on complex cases at home, including frail, bedridden, palliative and dementia patients who need more than ordinary caregiving.
