Where recovery actually happens

Physiotherapy at home in Kota Kinabalu

Rehabilitation for strength, balance and mobility after a fall, stroke or surgery, brought home. This is the field our founder John Cham built his career in.

Rehabilitation works best where your parent actually lives.

Progress made in a clinic can stall the moment someone goes home to different stairs, chairs and habits. Blue Swan brings physiotherapy and rehabilitation home across Kota Kinabalu and the surrounding Greater KK area: strength, balance, fall recovery, and stroke and surgery rehab.

The rehab itself

What does home physiotherapy cover?

Rehabilitation built around your parent’s own home, goals and daily routine.

Strength and mobility

Rebuilding the strength to stand, walk and manage stairs, step by step and at a safe pace.

Balance and fall prevention

Balance retraining and small home adjustments that lower the odds of the next fall.

Stroke rehabilitation

Regaining movement, coordination and confidence through the months after a stroke, at home.

Post-surgery and orthopaedic recovery

Guided recovery after hip, knee or other orthopaedic surgery, so healing does not mean losing ground.

Parkinson’s and neurological rehab

Movement, gait and posture work for Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions, adjusted as they change.

Home safety and walking aids

Practical advice on walking aids, footwear and the home itself, so the gains actually stick.

The founder’s field

Who leads the physiotherapy?

Our founder, John Cham, is a geriatric and orthopaedic physiotherapist who spent over 15 years building mobile rehabilitation services in Australia. Home physiotherapy is where Blue Swan began, and medical cases are guided alongside Dr Gordon Pang, State Geriatrician for Sabah.

After a stroke, many families worry their parent will never walk safely again. Our physiotherapist, working along side our medical team, rebuilds strength and balance at home step by step, and shows the family how to help between visits so progress keeps going.

Common questions

Questions families ask about home physiotherapy

QDo you provide physiotherapy at home?

Yes. Our physiotherapists come to your parent’s home across Kota Kinabalu and the surrounding Greater KK area, so rehabilitation happens in the space they actually live in.

QWhat conditions do you help with?

Recovery after falls, stroke and surgery, Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions, and the general deconditioning that follows illness or a long stay in bed.

QIs home physiotherapy as effective as a clinic?

For many older patients it works better. Therapy in the real home means the exercises fit the actual stairs, chairs and doorways your parent has to manage every day.

QWho are the physiotherapists?

Blue Swan physiotherapy is delivered by qualified physiotherapists who work closely with our wider clinical team. Our focus is home-based rehabilitation for older adults, including falls prevention, balance, walking confidence, post-hospital recovery, stroke or Parkinson’s support, strengthening and quality of life at home.

QCan physiotherapy work alongside nursing or a doctor?

Yes. Rehabilitation is coordinated with any nursing or medical care already in place, all under one plan and one point of contact.

QHow do we start?

Book a complimentary, no-obligation care planning discussion by phone, video call, or at our office in KK Specialist Centre. We will assess the goals and recommend a plan.
